A national medical director of ECI Healthcare Partners eHealth and a regional director for its parent company, ECI Healthcare Partners, M. Scott Pirkle, MD, FACEP, directs the management of ECI Healthcare Partners’ Midwest hospital operations in emergency and hospitalist care, as well as the company’s national virtual care services. As part of his eHealth work, he serves as consultant chief medical officer for Air Methods Corporation’s Direct Patient Logistics and Telemethods arms, leading the organizations’ physician advisory board.
Board certified in emergency medicine with significant experience in internal medicine, Dr. Pirkle obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1992. He completed his internship year in internal medicine, followed by a residency in emergency medicine—both at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia.
He has worked as an attending physician and medical director at several hospitals, including North Shore Medical Center in Miami, Florida, where he also served as chief of staff. He has previously held positions as a flight physician, an associate professor for the Mt. Sinai Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and a faculty member at Barry University School of Allied Health Professions. He boasts a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Texas and a Master of Science degree in immunology from the University of North Texas. Dr. Pirkle is also a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
